is it spring yet?

I can't wait for spring. If pressed for an answer I would have to say autumn is my favorite season. But the truth is what I really like is change. After two and a half months of one season I am always ready for the next season. I think this is especially true for spring and fall.

The end of winter always seems so bleak and fickle. And there is something about that one morning that you open the door and smell the earth warming. It sounds cliche, I know, but as the sun gets warmer the ground thaws and the scent of warm moist dirt rises. It's in that moment that I really start to feel cabin fever, only because I know the days ahead will bring a mix of sun, rain, and even the occasional snow shower.

So today I am looking out the window: the sun is shining, the winter chill seems to be gone, but the smell isn't quite there. After all, there are still two more days in February and we did have a "wintry mix" on Sunday. But I know it will be here soon. In fact, little j assured me that it would be here in "a couple more days!"
