my top five Christmas movies

Now that I am closer to being done--less than 24 hours--I am getting really anxious about the holidays. Anxious in a good way. I actually love the holidays and one of my favorite things is holiday movies. Now, I know there are purists out there who will disagree with my top five picks, and that's perfectly okay. Share your list in the comment section! Here's mine . . .

5. Scrooged
A refreshing take on the classic "A Christmas Carol." Bill Murray is
genius and this film is a great showcase for his talents. And who doesn't love Carol Kane as the Ghost of Christmas Present.

4. The Muppets Christmas Carol
Yes, I know, another remake of "A Christmas Carol."
But how can anyone resist a cast with Michael Cane, Kermit the Frog, Robin, Gonzo...well, the whole bunch of those lovable Muppets. I really love the fact that Michael Cane takes this role as seriously as any other, because as someone who grew up with the Muppets, I would be oh so offended if he played it any other way.

3. White Christmas
The snow, the songs, the crazy dancing, and, of course, Bing and Danny. The scene at the end when they open the barn doors is magical! little j, Big J and I love to sing "Sisters" together...this movie is, I think it goes without saying, a classic.

2. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Two words: Christmas hilarity. Clark wants the "Old-Fashi
oned Griswold Family Christmas" so badly, but he is just over the top. From the house lights, to getting stuck in the attic, to the squirrel, there's nothing better to watch on Christmas Eve when assembling toys for the kids.

1. It's A Wonderful Life
Hot Dog! I think I've seen this movie at least 60 times. First of all, Jimmy Stewart is, in my opinion, one of the greatest actors of all time. Second, how amazing is it to be given the gift that George has, the knowledge of what the world would be like without you. How many of us have imagined, especially in the craziness of the season, what purpose we serve in the world. With his family and friends gathered around, George finally understands his purpose, and every year it brings tears to my eyes.
