Two back-to-back Law and Order episodes that I haven't seen before. First of all, it is rare to come across one, let alone two, episodes. So imagine my delight when I began watching the first one and it was new, and with Chris Noth no less. Then a second episode...well, I can't begin to say how I nearly fell out of my chair in delighted surprise.
Big J thinks that L&O, in all its forms, has jaded me. On the contrary, I have much more faith in human nature because when people watch shows like this they have got to realize that it is rare that crimes go unsolved or unpunished. So while I don't have much faith that people don't commit crimes because it goes against a moral law, at least they may be scared of getting caught (see Kohlberg for a quick overview of moral development).
And this leads me to an interesting thought: Imagine an undergraduate course on moral development built around episodes of Law and Order. Plus you could start each class with the signature L&O sound. Sign me up!
