My Thanksgiving menu

As it turns out our Thanksgiving is going to be intimate (read: just the three of us!) so I have been seriously thinking that a whole turkey just isn't going to be needed. I know that they sell turkey breasts, but I think I would rather take this opportunity to try out something new. So here it is:

Bourbon Chicken Liver Pate
Pears & Apples
accompanied by 2004 Afton Mountain Tete De Cuvee

Winter Squash Soup with Gruyere Croutons

Bibb Lettuce Salad with Persimmons and Candied Pecans

Herb-Rubbed Duck with Tart Cherry and Sage Sauce
Sweet Potato Souffle
Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Garlic and Pancetta
accompanied by Rojan 2004 Zinfandel

Virginia Vintage Apple Pie
Honey Ginger Pumpkin Pie
accompanied by Edgefield 2000 Fireside Syrah

The only element I'm not definitely set on is the sweet potato souffle. I'll have to think about that a bit more and might do a roasted root vegetable dish. Other than that, I am very happy with the menu, it seems very Northwestern. The only thing missing is the oysters, but we'll save those for Christmas eve!

Oh, yum. And furthermore, yum.

I am jealous of your intimate Thanksgiving!
