Last night little j fell asleep on the couch before dinner. As it turns out, she has some sort of stomach flu and has thrown up no less than 4 times in the last 24 hours. little j loves to laugh, and she hardly cracked a smile today.
I went grocery shopping by myself today -- something a little out of the norm. But the most exciting thing was that I broke out the flip flops. There are people that wear flip flops throughout the year, however I am not one of them. My toes tend to get a little chilly mid-winter. But I love the first day I wear them because I feel like my feet are free after months of confinement.
Tonight I made one of our favorite meals: tagliatelle with spicy lamb ragu (Mario's recipe actually calls for wild Texas boar, but that is a little hard to come by). Oh my. It is incredibly spicy, but it's the kind of spice that makes you want to keep eating. I think it is the last time we will have this meal until late fall, so it was nice to be able to enjoy it with a good glass of wine (Cline Zinfandel).
little j and I will be home tomorrow. I can only hope there is no more throwing up, anything else I can handle.
