On Preparing for an Epic Storm

According to the people who know about weather, we are going to get somewhere between 20 - 28 inches of snow beginning at 4 am on Friday. This is on top of the four inches we got on Sunday which closed school for three days. Now, if we suppose that 4 inches of snow equals three days off school can we predict that there will be no school for roughly 18 days? And what happens when the storm predicted for next Tuesday and Wednesday hit? At this rate, little j is going to be in school until July.

Being a working parent is hard enough -- but I really have to sympathize with parents who don't have flexible workplaces like Big J and I do. I can do the majority of my work from home when I don't have class, and Big J can also work remotely. But there are many parents who don't have that option.

The governor of Virginia has already declared a state of emergency. I think that is the right thing to do, given how wretchedly the December storm was handled. But we are still pretty certain that we won't be getting out of our neighborhood for two days, if not more.

Go Buy Milk. And bread. And popcorn. And lots of ingredients to make cookies. That's all the advice I have. And I cannot believe you are going to have 20 inches! Stay safe and warm...
