Friday Random Thoughts: First Day of Spring Edition

I'm not feeling very happy today (see yesterday's rant), but I'm determined to get through the day and enjoy a sunny weekend with the Js.

little j has been incredibly sweet the last couple of days. Even if she throws a fit she will apologize afterward and give me a hug. It's impossible to stay mad at someone so completely adorable.

Four words: Elvis Perkins in Dearland.

little j starts soccer tomorrow -- she's really excited.

Over the last year, I've felt like I've missed Oregon more than ever, but I think it is because we were so unsettled here. Now that I have a real job I feel more content being in C'ville. That's a good thing.

But I still miss my family, more than I ever expected.

Underrated movies: The Prestige, The Usual Suspects, The Abyss

This morning I heard a story on NPR about the Pope's visit to Africa. Apparently women had the Pope's face on their asses. They meant it in celebration of his visit -- I have a different take on it.

Speaking of the NPR story, one of the most interesting things about the report is the journalist, Ofeibea Quist-Arcton. I totally have a girl-crush.

We started watching The Wire -- horrifying, fascinating, incredible. Big J, come home so we can watch the next episode!

I am teaching five classes over the next year: College Student Experience, College Student Development, History of Higher Ed, Capstone, and Internship. Totally looking forward to all of them!

I am feeling happier now than when I began this post.
