an odd Monday

You know how you have routines to your week and when something unexpected happens it throws off your entire day? Well, on Mondays I usually ease back into the work week by starting the morning with a cup of coffee and getting Big J and little j out the door, then do 40minutes of yoga-pilates, read my email, catch up with the NYT, eat breakfast, shower and then finally get down to writing at about 11 am. Sure, it's a slow start to the day, but it works for me.

Today is Columbus Day. If you are reading this and you have the day off raise your hand. That's what I thought. The only people that have this day off work for the government, so of course Big J is home. little j is also home because she spent most of yesterday alternating between her beanbag and the couch sleeping or watching tv with a fever. So how much have I gotten done today? Well, you probably guessed it -- hardly anything. Although I did buy little j's witch hat and planned the rest of her Halloween costume.

And I do have a good dinner planned:
Grilled chicken sandwiches with sage pesto and apples, roasted beets, and broccoli. A definite winner for the perfect fall day.

I can only hope that tomorrow is more productive. If I want to defend my proposal by the end of the month I am really cutting it down to the wire and I need to finish my lit review.
