cooking jones

I realized this morning that I haven't been cooking lately. That's not to say that we are starving. On the contrary, little j is much happier when "Dad cooks regular stuff." But we are headed into prime cooking season between Thanksgiving and the winter holidays. I got the new issue of Bon Appetit yesterday and felt an overwhelming need to spend a weekend in the kitchen. And if all goes well that will happen this week.

On Saturday we are going to the Virginia Vintage Apple Festival and I am entering the apple pie contest. I'm a little nervous because I wouldn't consider baking my strong point, but I do make a good apple pie. The best thing about entering, however, is the fact that we will have at least two test pies in the house before then! Yum!
