hmmm......not a lot to say right now

It's been an interesting week. I haven't had a lot happen, but I feel like I've been really busy. I've just been taking care of little things here and there trying to get ready to collect my data. I am hoping to get my survey up and going by the end of this week or the first of next at the latest.

At the same time I am getting ready to collect data, I am also thinking about potential future research projects. There's so much reading that I want to do and issues that I want to explore. I've been thinking more about identity development for the non-college-going population and how their development compares to that of the college-going population. I really don't know of much research out that.

The thing is, we (college administrators, higher ed people) talk about how college affects students in a very positive way, but in the past when I've asked professors and/or mentors how we know it is college as opposed to something else the answer is 'we don't know.' That's an interesting (non)answer to a very important question.

Side note: Today I made grilled Cajun chicken sandwiches and baked potato chips. Not my best meal ever but it has potential. Actually, the potato chips were delicious -- sliced red potatoes thin and baked in a single layer at 375 degrees until crisp. I took them out of the oven and tossed them with some sauteed minced garlic and salt and pepper. Yum! The chicken, however needs a bit of work. I used a spice rub that was just okay. I'd much prefer a lighter spice rub followed by a wet mop as it grills. I'll have to work on it because it's something Big J would love to have more often.
