Poor little j, the evening of her 10th birthday she came down with a fever. And it wouldn't quit. She was a 100+ for nearly 6 days. We could tell she was really sick because she didn't want to leave the couch. Usually after a day or so, she's climbing the walls, but not this time. She emphatically declared that it was the worst week of her life, and then cried on Wednesday when her temperature was still near 101.
And if that wasn't enough, school was cancelled Monday and Tuesday for Hurricane Sandy. Thankfully, it wasn't bad for us -- we never lost power and only had about 2 inches of rain. And little j felt well enough to play with her friends and go to riding team.
She should be on the mend now. One of our major concerns was that she lost 5 pounds while she was sick. And the first thing she wanted to eat when she felt better was salad! Crazy kid. But how can a mom say no to salad? Yeah, I couldn't. So she would eat a salad and a couple bites of other things then was full. She's only now getting her appetite back.
I can only say that I am so glad that she's well again. The worry that comes with a sick child is one of the hardest things about parenting.
