Beach Week -- aka A Real Vacation

We spent last week in Cape Charles on the the Eastern Shore of Virginia. It was a little slice of heaven. Big J and I realized that, with the exception of our trip to Disney World, this was our first real family vacation that didn't involve visiting family. While visiting family is a good thing, there is really nothing like spending time just hanging out and relaxing and not feeling like you need to go here and there to see people or make plans.

We rented a lovely house with another family and went to the beach, rode bikes, kayaked, napped, read, ate good food, swam, walked, explored the very small town, napped, and sometimes did a whole lot of nothing. It was perfect.

Georgia met a friend while Big J took her out for her morning beach romp. They became good buddies.

little j had a great time with her friends playing in the water and building sand castles.

All in all, we came home rested and ready to get back to work. Although I did begin to long for summers off where little j and I could rent a house for a month and just enjoy hanging out!
