Seven Random Things

Fellow blogger and transplanted Oregonian, Sally HP tagged me for a "Seven Random Things About Me" meme so here goes:

1. I like pie. Let me be more specific here: if given the choice when it comes to dessert I will choose pie almost every time. I like all kinds of pie but I am particularly partial to fruit pie and pumpkin pie. I also like mincemeat pie, which leads me to . . .

2. According to my friend and college roommate, I like "old people food." That is, I like mincemeat, buttermilk, cottage cheese, soft-boiled eggs, etc. If your grandparents ate it, I probably like it. And yes, that includes liver and onions. However, I like the food cooked well and I have had some nasty liver and onions in my day. But executed correctly the dish can be a gastronomical joy.

3. If I could choose to live any where in the world without concern of job or money I would live in the San Juan Islands just off Washington state.

4. Back to pie -- I like pie for breakfast. In fact, I honestly believe that pumpkin pie with its eggs, milk and beta carotene is one of the healthiest breakfast options out there.

5. I am on the fence about having a well-manicured lawn. On one hand, that large expanse of green is lovely; but on the other, there is something pretty artificial about it. I think I will stick to the randomness of a natural lawn and enjoy lawn perfection as it exists on baseball fields.

6. I like weather. When I was home on maternity leave after little j was born I watched the Weather Channel obsessively, as if the forecast would change between "Weather on the Eights" segments.

7. If anyone ever complains to me that they have to write a 5, 10, or 20 page paper I will laugh in their face. Seriously, I'll do it.

I'd love to leave a comment about your random things, but I'm in the middle of a 6-page paper. Ugh!
