New blog considered

I've been thinking quite a bit about my blog and what is going to happen to it after I finish my dissertation. After all, this was the true purpose of my blog: to give me an outlet for my thoughts so I could sit down and write my dissertation thoughts. It has served me well over the last year and I am sure it will continue to do so up until the second week of December when the dissertation is defended and official record of progress is full of signatures.

But beyond that? Here's my idea -- A year of dinners. Essentially a diary of how I plan, cook, and execute dinners over the course of a year; from the Sunday grocery list, weekly meal plan, and recipes to the whims of the local produce, my (nearly) 5-year-old daughter, and our bank account.

One of my inspirations for the new blog is last night's dinner. We had our new babysitter over for dinner and I knew I was going to make roasted butternut quash, but wasn't sure what to put with it when I remembered the garlic and herb pork tenderloin I'd made nearly a year ago. I couldn't remember exactly how I made it, but did remember that I put in a link to the recipe on my blog....sure enough there it was. And it was as good as I'd remembered. So this blog turned out to be a nice resource for previous dinners.

So there you go....365 Dinners debuting on January 1, 2008!

That is a completely genius idea...why didn't I think of that?! Can't wait for the recipes...did you ever read The Julie/Julia Project? (maybe it was contest...)

Christian! Yes, this is a wonderful idea. However, I am concerned that Little and Big J will get tired of all the new recipes. Perhaps you will need me to come and help out! I miss you and your cooking on the high seas!

I'm so glad everyone likes it! I'm really excited to start...it's hard not to start right now...but MUST FINISH DISSERTATION!

I did read the Julie/Julia Project...loved it. I think that was part of the inspiration.

Coincidentally, Big J loves the idea as well...thank goodness, because sometimes I'm afraid he thinks I'm crazy!
