housekeeping and other drudgery

I hate a dirty house, but I hate cleaning the house. A bit of a conundrum. Part of the problem is that we seem to just put stuff wherever and then piles accumulate throughout the house. Not to mention having a four year old. I can see why people are obsessed with organization -- when you have a four year old organization isn't something that necessarily comes with the territory.

Then when you watch TV there are all these ads for house cleaning supplies: Rubbermaid containers, bagless vacuums, special state-of-the-art dusters, dusting spray, air freshener, carpet refresher, scented candles, dust mops, microfiber sweepers, magic erasers . . .where will it all end? Whatever happened to a pair of gloves, some rags, a broom and a bucket of soapy water? I miss those easy days. Not that I want to go back to using a washboard to clean my clothes, but I don't really think I need all that stuff to have a clean house and I can't really see that it saves any time.

Big J may just be the best husband on earth. He can whip a room into shape in no time. Part of me wants to take major advantage of that. But, as little j would say, that's not nice. I wish there was some housekeeping fairy that would just come along and help us out!
