how to celebrate Talk Like A Pirate Day

Ahoy me hearties today is September 19, International Talk Like A Pirate Day.

In the true spirit of the day, I challenged my friend (of single sabbatical fame) to greet one of her professors like a pirate. And let's just say that this professor is a big, BIG name in the student affairs world. If she completes the challenge a box of little j's decadent chocolate chip cookies will be on their way to Iowa by the weekend, and the accomplishment will be reported here on this blog for posterity. In order for her to complete this task she must utter a guttural "Arrrrr matey," and there must be independent confirmation of completion. The pirate gauntlet is thrown!

Avast ye scurvy dogs, either swab the poop deck or walk the plank, I'll be down in me quarters with a cup o' the grog!

*UPDATE*
She did it! Here's her description:

Here's how it went down:
I grabbed my friend and we ran into [the faculty] in the hallway. He said, "Hey Sherri" and I said, "Don't you mean, AAAARR Matey?" He looked puzzled and I said, "You know, because it's Talk Like a Pirate Day!"
Basically I felt like a fifth-grader trying to joke around with the school principal. But now at least I'm "that girl who talked like a Pirate!"

Could there be anything better than that! Congratulations Sherri! Cookies are on their way.
